Preparation
- Turn off power at the breaker.
- Confirm no electricity with a voltage tester.
- Gather tools: screwdriver, wire stripper, voltage tester, ladder.
- Check fixture wattage rating against circuit capacity.
Wiring Basics
- Identify wires:
- Black = Hot (from switch)
- White = Neutral (return path)
- Green/Bare = Ground (safety)
- Strip ~½ inch insulation from wires.
- Twist fixture wires to house wires of same color.
- Secure with wire nuts and gently tug to confirm tightness.
- Connect ground wire to box ground screw or house ground.

- Never rely only on wall switch—always shut off breaker.
- Inspect wires for damage before connecting.
- Use proper electrical box rated for fixture weight.
- Avoid loose wire nuts to prevent arcing.
